I found this shirt at a thrift store recently and I really like it.
I posed in my mom’s garden for these photos before we went to lunch, I love all the flowering trees and bushes!
Jeans: Forever 21
Necklace: Forever 21
I always feel like my outfit is boring when I wear jeans. Maybe it’s because I wear them to work everyday so I get tired of them. But wearing cute shoes and a pretty necklace does help!
The cats love my bed. On this day they were hanging on with me while I was studying. I took pictures because it was the first time Cloud tolerated being this close to her brothers.
As you can tell by her face, she was still pretty skeptical.
Everything was great until the boys decided to hit her in the face with their tails..
Which made her CRAZY.
But then they eventually got along!
I made one of the most delicious sandwiches ever..
Fresh zucchini and summer squash strips
Crispy iceberg lettuce
Saute the zucchini and squash until just cooked, you don’t want them too soggy!
Then I layed the zucchini and squash out on the bread, added the cheese and grilled it like I would a grilled cheese sandwhich.
After it cooled a little bit I added the lettuce.
It was so good!
I’m loving the warm weather we have been having lately!
On this day we visited some of our favorite garden stores to find some cool plant to add to our garden.
Skirt: Forever 21
Necklace: Forever 21
I just got this skirt recently and I love it! I find myself reaching for it every time I try to put an outfit together.
The first time I made tea in my cute little teapot, Chester was very concerned!
But then he was cool with it.
Early in March we got a freak ice storm. There were a few of inches of snow and ice built up on the road, but for some reason I still went into work! It was probably the most snow I have ever driven in and I’m still not sure how I made it there in one piece. Only one other person came in though so I only stayed a few hours.
I work close to this really cool old cemetery, and as I was leaving work, I got the wild idea to stop and take pictures. I usually chicken out when it comes to doing things like that by myself, but I decided it was time to get over that. I did get a little bit weirded out for a minutes because someone was behind me and I felt odd about pulling into the cemetery with someone behind me. (I don’t know!) So I drove right past, I almost went home but then I realized I was being dumb and turned around and went back! (After the other car had passed me of course!)
I’m glad I did, it was a lot of fun. The only downside is that the zipper on my snow boots had broke so my only option was to wear my suede ones. Which is fine for walking short distances, but after about three minutes they were completely soaked and filled with water.
The only bad part about the day is when I broke my camera. :'( I was rushing inside because my feet had gone numb from being soaked in ice water and the lens hit the door. Booo.
The other Saturday was a good day filled with springtime activities!
First we went to the farmer’s market and got organic eggs, local honey (I heard it helps with the allergies!) and the BEST pimento cheese ever. No mayonnaise! I’m actually a pretty big mayonnaise fan, but it grosses me out in pimento cheese for some reason.
We happened to go to the farmer’s market on chicken day, which I was excited about. Once a year a whole bunch of people bring all their hens and chickens to sell. We wanted to bring a little hen home so bad! One guy was selling rabbits in pairs. He said “Buy two, end up with 500” I wanted to bring home a pair of rabbits too. 🙂 Maybe it’s a good thing I have a small yard in the city, who knows how many animals I’d end up with if I had the space!
Next we checked out one of our favorite garden stores and bought some plants. Those petunias are our favorite!
Got a great deal on some dishes at the thrift store. Isn’t that pan cute? Perfect for cooking one sunny side up egg. We made egg sandwiches with pimento cheese, sooo good! And I am excited to bake all kinds of bread in the near future.
We also found some pretty cool books at the thrift store. Jeeves approved.
I wish every day could be this fun.
I couldn’t help myself. I bought a tie for my cats..
Chester surprisingly didn’t mind wearing it!
Cloud did NOT feel pretty in the tie and protested by sitting on a flower book.
Or maybe she just didn’t like Jeeves in her face trying to figure out what was on her neck.
He was very concerned when Chester and Cloud wore the tie.
I thought Chester would go crazy with the tie on, since he’s the wildest one, but he hardly seemed to notice it! I thought Cloud wouldn’t mind it since she was the only one that has ever worn a collar, but she hated it! Jeeves was predictable. Only slightly annoyed.
(Sorry about the terrible grainy pictures.. I guess I really need to get around to getting my camera fixed!)
My favorite Pittsburgh activity (besides the Frank Lloyd Wright houses!) Was the Duquense incline!
It was a little trolley that had been built in 1877 to bring people up and down the giant hill.
It was a little scary!
These were the gears and wires that made it run.
The view from the top was lovely!
Okay, the next Pittsburgh post will finally be about the Frank Lloyd Wright houses I promise!
I am a little behind on posting my March recap post, because I have had a very busy week. The beginning of the week I had to study for a test and write a paper, then I had to go on my first ever business trip to the CDC in Atlanta! At first I dreaded going because I was going to have to spend a night away from home. So to keep myself busy I had planned on working on my blog all evening and scheduling a whole bunch of posts. However my coworkers and I ended up staying out late at an oyster bar and I actually had fun! So, I didn’t get to work on all my blog posts, but that’s okay!
I didn’t take a lot of pictures this month because my camera is messed up. :'( I hit the lens walking in the door and now it’s giving me an error. I can only use it on manual mode and only in very bright light. I need to send it in to Nikon to see if they can fix it, but I’ve been putting it off.
Anyway, here are some highlights of the month!
We visited Pittsburgh….
…To see the Frank Lloyd Wright house, Falling water!
I got some neat souvenirs
And started a new obsession!
Cloud missed me so much she sat on my head.
And me and my mom found some bamboo to make garden trellises out of!
March ended up being a lot colder than I expected. We got a pretty big ice storm and I think it also snowed again. So I didn’t get to do as many outdoor activities as I had hoped, but it was still a pretty good month. April should be even better, I’ve never wanted hot weather so badly before!
