It was one of those March days, where a cool rain shower turns everything a vibrant green, and the plants begin to spring to life.
The air has a warmth to it, a hint that summer is on it’s way and winter is leaving us behind.
The best part is when the storm clouds clear away, and the setting sun shines through, washing everything in its golden light.
March is one of my favorite months
Dress: Forever 21
I got this dress at the forever 21 in Washington DC. We got off at a random metro stop and went on a late night shopping spree. I love it when clothes have fun memories attached to them.
I’ve been rather absent on blogger lately.
I document my outfit every now and then, and of course I never miss a cat post, but I have been feeling uninspired to do much else. My new job has been bringing me down, plus the long dark winter days did nothing to help my attitude. I have tried many times to write a post about how I feel, but it ends up being a negative rant and I just end up deleting it before it publishes. That place makes me sour and it’s hard to snap out of it.
This week though, has been better. We took a little mid week trip that refreshed my mind a bit. And the days are getting longer and the flowers have started blooming.
Maybe a little bit of my inspiration is coming back.
Steven and I leave each other little drawing at work. I put mine on my test tube racks to add some cheer to my cruddy days!
Chester has been practicing his typewriter skills lately. The typewriter has been sitting there for about a year and a half and he has just now noticed it.
My video was too large to upload here so you’ll have to click the link to watch it on youtube!
I’m always dreaming of what my next camera accessory purchase will be and I thought it would be fun to share my wishlist.
I have a Nikon D5100 and it’s perfect in just about every way. My only wish is that it was full frame, but that’s a story for later.
I love my 50 mm lens, but sometimes it’s just too zoomed in to be practical. It’s nearly impossible to shoot indoors with it since I have to stand so far back to get everything in frame. But the pictures it takes come out magical so I would like to try out the 35 mm since it is less “zoomed in”
Polarizers are great for outdoor photography, they make colors stand out and reduce reflections. I really want to get one to see what it can do!
Ever since I first got a camera I have really loved taking close up shots of things. One day I would love to own a macro lens to take proper close up shots of my plants and the bugs that like to come visit my garden.
I have a few bags that work alright as camera bags, but I would really love to have a proper camera bag to carry everything in. Especially if it’s cute like this one!
And last but not least, probably something I’ll never own, but I keep it on my wishlist because it’s fun to dream. A fast zoom lens. It’s fast because the aperture is huge and can let in a lot of light, allowing you to have a higher shutter speed than normal, in darker situations. My 50 mm is a fast lens and I am obsessed with the effects it has. I would love to see what kind of photos a fast zoom lens could take, but they cost well over one thousand dollars!
What is on your camera wishlist?
When I saw this little hat at the store I just knew Chester had to wear it. He was a little weirded out at first but then forgot he had it on and walked around like normal!
Jeeves even got in the party spirit and actually posed for a few pictures before retreating to another room.
The cats had a fun day and I hope all of you guys did as well!
HAPPY SAINT PATRICK’S DAY!!
Don’t party too hard!
Cat Photos Friday is one year old! I can hardly believe I succeeded in posting different pictures of these guys and their friends every Friday for an entire year. It’s been a lot of fun and they’re definitely my favorite posts to put together!
Here are some of my favorite posts from this past year
What were your favorites?
I love taking pictures of these guys and I can’t wait to share whatever crazy things they get into this year! Stay tuned!
We finally got a snow day this year! I don’t know why they always seem to happen so late in the season for us, we always seem to get really big storms at the end of February and beginning of March. It started snowing at around 9 PM, so I raced out to take some pictures. It was a really thick pretty snow accumulated so quickly!
It snowed all night and into the morning. This was around 6 AM when we woke up to see how tough the drive to work would be.
I love how the snow seems to wrap everything up into a soft fluffy blanket. Even though it’s cold, it seems to make everything feel cozy and warm.
I didn’t get to have a proper snow day since I work in a 24/7 medical lab that never closes. Snow days are always terrible because most of third shift calls out and leaves a pile of work too be done. It was exhausting and the whole time I was wishing I was at home in the snow. But on the bright side the lab manager bought pizza for every body! We took some home and ate it for days.
We did take a drive downtown before going into work though, which was a bunch of fun, I’ll be sharing those photos soon!
The cats chewed one of my plants up pretty bad, so I planted some more cat grass for them to chew on instead.
Cloud loved it the most. She wouldn’t stop eating it!
And she did NOT want to share!
Jeeves doesn’t believe in chewing plants, so after a quick sniff he went on with his day.
Just like before, Chester was more interested in the dirt.
The cat grass did seem to deter the cats from chewing my other plants, but I have to keep it out of reach because Cloud doesn’t know when to stop! She kept swallowing whole blades and then barfing them up. Gross.

Jeans: Forever 21
I love this cozy sweater I scored at the thrift store. It’s originally from American Eagle, and in really good shape, I think I paid around four or five bucks for it. I really like the cable knit pattern, I don’t really have any others like this so it has quickly become one of my favorites.
Thrift stores have become my favorite place to look for clothes, the ones near my house seem to have some really nice things lately.
