Cloud Day

October first is Cloud Day!  Six years ago she ran in our house and refused to leave. She decided it was her house!

She was just a sad starving little cat when she came here, but now she’s a happy, fluffy, very well fed cat who was happy to have an ice cream birthday toy!

She likes to bend her tail at weird angles. Not really sure how it works..

These are from when she first showed up. She did not like it when I put her back outside when she initially came in!

Cloud is a great cat!

Weekly Journal: Birthday and a Tail-less lizard

February is my least favorite month.. But at least it contains my birthday to make it a little more interesting!

My Birthday began at work with this colorful cake, then a lunch out, and later, a trip to a vegetarian restaurant and a cat cafe.

Crooked Tail Cat Cafe, just opened a few months ago in Greensboro, NC and is the first Cat Cafe in the state! It was a lot of fun hanging out with all the cats. I am hoping one opens up in my city soon. In fact, I’d love to open that cat cafe.. What a dream.

After the cat cafe we discovered a place called Elsewhere, a former thrift shop turned museum.. It was kind of a creepy place, I definitely want to return.

The weather has been quite warm, but very rainy. I started picking up some leaves around the yard to the other day and discovered this lizard!  But the poor guy was missing a tail!

Birthday Weekend

I turned 25 on February 8th, but since it fell on a boring old Monday, I did all birthday related activities on the weekend before.

On that Friday I went with my mom and my sister to check out a new bakery in town.

The Bakery was in a beautifully restored Victorian house, with furniture that looked like it could have been original. It was such a lovely place.

We sat at the big table in the dining room. I loved how they decorated it to look like it was still somebodies home.

It was tough to decide what to get, but we went with this chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake bar, and three cappuccinos. The bar was really good but I’m glad we split it three ways because it was soo filling.

I couldn’t decide what kind of cake I wanted, and while at the grocery store looking for cake mixes we came up with this concoction; a fruity pebble marshmallow cake!

For my birthday dinner we invited some friends over and had a make your own mini pizza buffet, which was a lot of fun. We have been obsessed with homemade mini pizzas lately.

The pizza I made was a pineapple pepper pizza with barbecue sauce. It sounds strange but it was really good!

I am halfway to 50 now! Most of my life I have felt older than I really am, but I’m not sure how old I actually feel.. 27? 30? 32? 45????? Can you even really feel a certain age or not? Does it even matter?  I’m not sure. But, I’m happy to be leaving my early 20s behind. There is so much uncertainty with life in those few years and I’m glad that’s behind me now. I have a great feeling about this year ahead and I can’t wait to see what it brings!

Cat Photos Friday #81- Birthday Stuff

October is the cat’s birthday month! They are sure excited about their birthday party.

Birthday stuff is so much fun

Cloud sometimes styles her flower lei as a skirt.

I can’t believe I’ve had these guys for a whole three years!

Party Hard!

My Birthday

I turned twenty four on the eighth, and to celebrate, Steven, my mom my sister and I went to a little town called Mount Airy to check out the little shops and have lunch.

We started the day with breakfast at my mom’s house which included scrambled eggs, fruit and muffins. And I got this cute little pinata! I will set him up on a cute shelf when I have a craft area one day.

Mount Airy is a small little town that the Andy Griffith show was based off of. I just love all the old style buildings.

We checked out plenty of antique stores, and acted awkward in the toy store.

Snappy lunch is a popular spot that serves a famous porkchop sandwich, but we ate at a different diner this time, since I’m not a porkchop eater.  I got a delicious pimento cheese sandwich!

Towards the end of our shopping trip, we stumbled onto this glorious place..

There were so many delicious looking treats, it was hard to choose what to get! I ended up choosing the super chocolate moonshine brownie, it was so yummy but I could only take about three bites before it felt like my blood had turned into sugary syrup.

All in all it was a fun birthday. I’ve reached the point where I’ve started to forget how old I am! Am I 22? 23? 24? They’ve all blurred together.  I guess because my most exciting birthdays are behind me now, there’s none left that I really can’t wait to turn. I’m certainly not dreading getting older, but I sure don’t have a countdown going like I did for my 18th or 21st.

My Birthday Adventures

February 8th was my 23rd birthday! And I must say that this has probably been the best birthday ever. It was an entire day filled with fun activities! (Yay for birthdays falling on Saturday!) Since my new goal has been to take more photos, I tried to document all the fun moments of my birthday adventure.

I had a party Friday evening and my mom made these super cute drinks. I don’t exactly remember what was in it, but I’m pretty sure it involved cranberry juice and wedding cake flavored vodka.

Instead of a cake I had delicious brownies with frosting.
We started my birthday morning off with a trip to McDonalds for an egg and cheese biscuit and a hazelnut iced coffee. I am obsessed with those coffees..
Next it was time to do one of our favorite activities of driving around and exploring. We set out to find a creepy place we found about a year ago while exploring.

Found the creepy place! Looks like they were building an entrance to a fancy neighborhood but then abandoned it.

After that we checked out some antique stores.
*Wait a minute… What’s that in the corner…*

 IT’S A LAND CAMERA.

I have been wanting one of these for a while now and I was just telling everyone the night before how much I really wanted one. I was so excited!  The downside is that they stopped making this film in 1992 and it’s really hard to find. And expensive!! But I’ll probably give it a shot, just to see how it comes out. I still would like to get a slightly newer version of the land camera that you can still but film for. But this guy is in perfect shape!

After all the camera excitement it was time to bake lavender lemon cupcakes with my mom. I took a bunch of photos  that I’ll share along with the recipe later.

For dinner Steven and I went out for Thai food. We shared a shrimp and vegetable curry and sticky rice with ice cream for dinner.

We ended the day with a bag of yummy Indian snacks!
