This was from a few weeks ago when we had our first snow of the year. It only snowed for a few hours and then disappeared completely before midday, which was disappointing.
It wasn’t very cold out so I thought it would be a good time to wear this new dress I found at the thrift store. I had been hoping to find a plaid dress for a while so I was very excited when I stumbled upon this one. Maybe one day I’ll find another one that isn’t so short and I can wear it without leggings. That’s one reason I love thrift shopping, you never know when you’re going to find something you’ve been looking for!
This is one of two nice winter skirts I found at the thrift store the other day, which I was quite excited about. I always seem to fall into a fashion rut in the winter consisting of a sweater, jeans and boots combo, because I’m cold and too lazy to think about layering things. It’s not even officially winter yet and I have already started to fall into that rut, so I am trying to snap out of it fast!
So, does anybody else have a harder time putting outfits together in the winter?
If I look thicker than normal, it’s because I was wearing a lot of clothes.
On this day we were going to a bonfire and it was supposed to get very cold that night. I wanted to be warm, but I didn’t want to wear the usual jeans and a sweater I always end up wearing every single day of the winter, so I got creative! I am wearing two pairs of thick, knitted tights with leggings over top. And because the sleeves of this dress are open and flow-y, I was able to stuff a long sleeved shirt and my warmest bulky sweater underneath, then I squeezed it all together with this cardigan. I also wore a scarf and I ended up being quite warm the entire evening, even hot at one point! I am pretty excited about my new layering skills.
How do you dress to keep warm in the winter?
I finally found the kind of skirt I have been looking for. Something with a high waist, but not so short I am afraid to bend over.
I found it at a thrift store along with everything else in this outfit, which I wore to go to even more thrift stores. I’m losing my desire to ever shop anyplace else.
I love our elephant ear plant. It’s getting so big!
The wind was blowing in the perfect direction to fluff out my hair this day..
I am really liking this hair cut. I am so glad the orange is finally gone and it’s blonde again, although I am getting the urge to add some fun color to it.. Pink maybe? Or mint green? I really like the idea of mint green hair.. We’ll see!
This is still my favorite blouse, and has been since I got it over a year ago. I think I paid 25 bucks for it which is a lot for me considering I normally get most of my clothes at thrift stores. But I’ve definitely made good use of it. I like the skirt because it’s one of my favorite colors besides mint green. However, unlike mint green, I am not wanting my hair ever this color ever again.

Most days we were at the beach, I lived in my bathing suit. But the times I wore actual clothes, I chose pastels and white because they seemed like the perfect beach colors.
The only time I really wear contacts is at the beach, and that means I can wear my beloved sunglasses! I probably have about ten pairs that are just sitting around collecting dust because I used to be a sunglasses fool back in the day, before my eyes went bad. This pair is one of my favorites.
Waves are really unpredictable…..
And that one got me bum all wet!
I wish I was back at the beach.

Sunglasses: I forget!
Last summer I was on a search for some high waisted shorts, preferably in navy. But I never found any! (Most likely because my hours at work had been cut so I tried to avoid places where spending money was possible) But not long ago I stumbled upon these at H&M and knew they had been what I was looking for! I really like them!
It’s funny, years ago, when low rise was all the rage, I was horrified at the very thought of wearing pants that went above my hips. But now I am definitely looking forward to the return of higher waisted pants. Not only do I think they are more flattering, but it’s nice to be able to bend over without worrying about showing my backside to the world, or my hips hurting from wearing too small pants in order to keep them from showing my bum.
The boys seemed interested in one of my headbands I left laying on the couch, so I figured they wanted to try it on. I think they looked pretty good in it.
There are plenty of different ways to style it. I liked this version Chester wore.
This is my favorite photo. I laugh so hard every time I look at it.
Have a fabulous Friday!

This post has been sitting in my drafts for a while. I felt kind of burnt out on outfit posts.. (What is the point of it all???!!) But, I like to look back through them to remember certain outfits I put together and it helps me figure out my style more I suppose.. I know these were taken a while ago because my hair finally isn’t orange anymore!
Anyway, this was one of the first really warm days of the year so I celebrated by wearing a tank top (which I promptly spilled resin on) and contacts so I could wear my sunglasses!

(Whoops, these turned out overexposed. )
The weather has finally warmed up and I am excited to get back to just being able to throw on a dress and be on my way. I am also trying to broaden my belt collection beyond the two that you’ve probably seen me wear in nearly every outfit post. There are so many belts at thrift stores, but it’s hard to come up with outfit ideas in my head that will go with them so I usually just stare at them for a while and then not buy anything. But I figured you can’t go wrong with a classic white belt, so I picked out this one on one of my more recent thrift store trips.
