Weekly Journal: Birthday and a Tail-less lizard

February is my least favorite month.. But at least it contains my birthday to make it a little more interesting!

My Birthday began at work with this colorful cake, then a lunch out, and later, a trip to a vegetarian restaurant and a cat cafe.

Crooked Tail Cat Cafe, just opened a few months ago in Greensboro, NC and is the first Cat Cafe in the state! It was a lot of fun hanging out with all the cats. I am hoping one opens up in my city soon. In fact, I’d love to open that cat cafe.. What a dream.

After the cat cafe we discovered a place called Elsewhere, a former thrift shop turned museum.. It was kind of a creepy place, I definitely want to return.

The weather has been quite warm, but very rainy. I started picking up some leaves around the yard to the other day and discovered this lizard!  But the poor guy was missing a tail!

This February

February is my birthday month and I turned 25. Halfway to 50!

We have still been obsessed with making these tiny home made pizzas, they’re so yummy, and it’s fun to come up with new recipes.

It snowed a couple times which I was so excited about. But not my mind is on spring and I am ready to leave winter behind.

We have been going to Lowe’s the last few weekends and stocking up on plenty of plants and seeds to plant as soon as spring arrives.
I got a birthday bike and can’t wait to ride it more!

I always go stir crazy during the month of February because I start to get very bored of winter and the short days. But March is one of my favorite months; I love watching all the flowers suddenly start popping up everywhere and how everything starts to turn green.

The most exciting thing to happen this month was having an interview and getting a job offer at the company I have been dreaming of working at for years. It still doesn’t feel real yet and part of me is expecting to wake up one day and realize it was all a dream. I don’t start until next week and I’ll talk more about it once I’m certain it isn’t a dream.

How was every body else’s February?

This February

February was an okay month. I worked a lot and am still sore every day from this dang repetitive job. But there were still a few good moments from this past month which I highlight here!
I turned 24, and had a nice day in Mount Airy

I continued my granny square obsession and am working on a blanket!
Met some friends at our favorite Mexican restaurant and had all kinds of dip. Something I want to do all the time now!
Got dinner downtown and happened to hear the train, so we jumped in the car and raced to watch it. This cell phone picture serves as a reminder to ALWAYS bring my camera! This is a lesson I just never seem to learn.
We got a big dump of snow this week! I got some good photos that I’ll be posting soon.

I feel relieved that march is here. I’ve always loved march. I love those rainy March days, where the plants have just begun to turn green  and everything looks so lush. I am really looking forward to being outside and getting some sunlight! I think it will be the perfect attitude adjustment.

My Valentine’s Day

We keep it pretty low key around here for Valentine’s day, but that’s how we like it!

We met my mom and sister for breakfast at a place we discovered once while out exploring called breakfast time.
The first flower of the year bloomed that day!  Crocus always used to bloom on my birthday but it’s been unusually cold here so this guy was a week late.
For lunch we got the crazy idea to make grilled cheese chip sandwiches. Man were they good!

I noticed the cats had chewed some of my plants so I took that as a hint that they wanted more greens in their life, and planted some cat grass.
For dinner we stopped by a gas station for some snacks and picked up a little Caesars pizza. We also ordered a jalapeno  cheese sauce and dipped our pizza in it. It was divine. I recommend it.

So it was mostly a lazy day spent eating strange foods, and what a good day it was!

Also, head on over to my mom’s blog Make it Special for lovely Valentine’s day photos from around her home!

How did you spend your Valentine’s day?

February Recap

February was a pretty good month, much more exciting than January anyway! Here are some highlights from the past month.

It was my birthday month!  We had a little party in our newly Ikea furnished dining room.

We had our most successful Ikea trip yet. We didn’t get overwhelmed and they had everything we wanted in stock!  I love Ikea food so much. I could eat it every day..

I found a polaroid land camera on my birthday adventure!  I actually managed to snag some film for it on ebay. I haven’t tried it out yet because I still have to decide what to take my first picture of. The film is way expired though so I have no idea if it will even work. Stay tuned!

It snowed almost a foot!
We decided to make a delicious bean chili/dip on the snow day. I’ll be blogging about that soon!
I spent most of the snow day unpacking some boxes that have sat in the corner of our spare bedroom since we moved in a year and a half ago. And yes, you are seeing correctly. The walls, door and ceiling are all painted the same exact shade of blue… That will not be staying.

I added some more resin necklaces to my Etsy shop!
But most of all… I finally started my vegetable garden!!!!

February was fun, but I am really looking forward to March. It should bring plenty of gardening, some outdoor adventures and an exciting trip to Pittsburgh!
