July Fourth fireworks are always a crazy time. This year’s display included one that fell over, and one that went rogue and shot out a fireball which freaked out the crowd.
July didn’t seem to fly by quite as fast as the two months before, but I still find it hard to believe that it is already August, and summer will be over before I know it.
July was a good month filled with many new things.
At the very beginning of the month we got a new car! We had both been driving beat up old cars from the 90s our whole life so it has been quite a change driving this electric bad boy around.
Work has been going well, and this month my group and I got moved to a new area that is filled with windows. I am so excited to have a view and be able to bring in some plants. Also they gave us a title change from manufacturing technician, to manufacturing engineer.
I never thought I would be called an engineer….
Once again I am so glad to finally have a job I am happy with.
At the beginning of the month we spent plenty of time outside, taking walks and riding bikes, but soon after, a huge heat wave hit and has hung over us ever since, suffocating all who dare to venture outside.
Also, we bought a Beluga Whale.
Each year that passes, I like summer more and more, so I want to make sure I really enjoy this last month and don’t take it for granted. August is our beach trip month and as usual I am beyond excited to go!
How was your July?
One of my favorite things about the Fourth of July, are all the fireworks. This year we bought some of our own and set them off after our cookout. They’re so much fun!
There’s always at least one that manages to fall over..
When looking for fireworks to buy, we couldn’t pass up these two silly turtles. I was a little sad at first because they were too cute to get blown up, but luckily they ended up staying completely in tact after we lit their fuse 🙂
They were on silly little wheels!
They zoomed down the sidewalk like little rockets!
And then set off a flare at the end.
Fireworks are exciting!
My flowers continued to bloom. This was our first year growing Gladiolus, they were a success!
We hosted a July Fourth party and I baked an apple pie, crust and all!
We have finally started biking again, and can’t get enough!
My veggie garden has made a few things. We have loved making fried green tomato sandwiches.
My Jalapeno bonsai has been hard at work. 🙂
July ended up being a pretty good month. We haven’t been doing as many outdoor activities as I would like, but it has been just so darn hot outside. Like the type of hot where the air feels thick, and you break a sweat even when standing in the shade not moving. It makes me feel like I’m going to suffocate. I am not cut out for living in this kind of heat..
But, we’re in the last month of summer now and it should be cooling down a bit. I used to hate August, it was by far my least favorite month. But now I have grown to like it. It’s kind of a last chance to squeeze as much fun out of summer as you can, and the feeling that fall is just around the corner is always exciting. But perhaps my favorite part of August, is our BEACH TRIP. I love the beach so much and I am stupid excited for our trip next week.
I hope everybody has a lovely month ahead!
This year Steven and I decided to have a July Fourth party at our house, since we have been fixing up our backyard.
We grilled up some hotdogs on our cute little grill.
There’s my little veggie dog on top of all the big meaty dogs..
Me and my friend Alex!
Later that evening we took some mildly creepy sparkler night shots, we were all too hyped up on hot dogs to stand still apparently.
I like how my sister’s leg is just floating around, doing it’s own thing in this shot..
It was a fun time We definitely should invite people over more often, we’re not the most social people on the planet.. Haha.
The cats are all decked out and excited for the Holiday weekend!
(These expressions are the hilarious result of me making a high pitch noise in attempt to make them look at the camera!)
Cloud acts like a statue and lets me drape her in all kinds of party paraphernalia.
Jeeves knows cats don’t belong on tables, so I always have the worst time getting him in the photos. Then I realized I could move the photo shoot elsewhere. Problem solved!
It’s time to party!
I hope everyone in the US has a good Fourth! And I hope everyone else has a great weekend!

I can’t believe it’s already August and the last full month of summer! Time has really flew these past few months. Here is a look back at some highlights in July:
For the Fourth of July I baked a pie! I never knew how easy they were to make. We also had some yummy kabobs.
Playing with sparklers.
For my sister’s birthday she had a costume party and dressed as Elsa from Frozen.
And I dressed as a 60s house wife! Check out my mom’s party planning blog for more pictures: makeitspecialpartyplanning
My aunt and grandma came for a visit and we all went to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s house.
Cloud was angry at us for leaving her and wouldn’t let me touch her. She also pigged out while we were gone and got really fat.
We made fried green tomato sandwiches with tomatoes from our garden just like I had been dreaming about! We used pesto havarti cheese and it was so yummy!
I have been making a lot of jewelry recently, these ones can be found in my shop!
And just last week we visited a dairy farm where I got to pet a day old baby cow and nearly died from cuteness overload.
I am really looking forward to August, we are going to the BEACH.
