It was late March, and it snowed again. For the fourth time. It rarely snows even once in March.
I was ready for warm weather, but I can never help being excited when I see the fluffy white snow cover all the flowers.
When snow was predicted in the forecast, my camera came to work with me in anticipation.
The snow finally started after many hours spent glancing up out the window every few minutes.
Many times throughout the day, my camera and I ran outside to take pictures of the cherry tree lined streets, as some of the biggest snowflakes I’d ever seen fell from the sky.
Later that day all the snow melted away when it turned to rain, like it had never even been there. Winter came back, just for a moment, and then it was finally gone.
It was a winter that was much colder than recent yeas had been.
The flowers that begun to spring up in January of last year were nowhere in sight until March.
The cold continued, and it snowed more times in March than it had for the entire winter.
On the second day of spring, as I watched the snow covered the flowers, I began to forget what warm days felt like. But now the snow has finally melted, and the cold has begun to fade away.. Winter might be nearly over.
The gardens began to come back to life as pretty flowers started to poke up through the ground.
We continued to eat healthy veggie meals. It won’t be long before we are eating veggies from our own garden and I can’t wait.
Aldi randomly stocked some sewing machines on the same day I got the desire to start sewing, so I snatched one up and have been working on all kinds of sewing projects.
We picked out this beauty tree for our backyard.
My mom had us over for an Easter brunch and it was a lot of fun. I loved her table decor!
And here is a look at my desk at my new job! I am so happy to finally have the job I dreamed about for years and I still can’t believe I am finally working here. I am a manufacturing lab tech in the regenerative medicine department of a large university and medical school where my job is to grow human cells that will help regenerate damaged tissues or even regrow tissues completely. I am still very much in the learning phase which is pretty exhausting. I have so many new things to learn! But I am so relived that I have found my forever job and no longer have to be constantly updating my resume and looking for new jobs. That had been my life for the past few years and it was so tiring and depressing!
It’s hard to believe that exactly a year ago I was at a job that I hated so much and was suffering some terrible repetitive stress injuries from it (that I’m still recovering from!!) Last March I was not feeling optimistic about life at all and felt trapped. This just shows that a lot can change in a year, and I’m glad it changed for the better.
March was a great month! The weather has warmed up, flowers are blooming, and the future is looking bright. Now we’re on to April, which should be a very exciting month, we have a trip to Washington DC planned!
How was the month of March for you guys?
March is one of my favorite months.
I love watching the outdoors come back to life after a long cold winter.
Each day the trees have a few more leaves than the day before.
Every day it looks a little different outside.
Green starts to slowly creep over the ground and rise up to the tree tops.
The woods come alive again.
Cherry blossoms begin to bloom, and then cover the ground in a blanket of soft pink petals.
The frequent rain makes the land look so lush and green.
It’s a welcome sight after a cold dark winter.
I love March.
These last two winter months have seemed so long and dark, but finally there is a sign that spring is just around the corner.
Every day I go out and stare at the ground, just hoping to catch a glimpse of the first bulbs poking up through the soil. I was overjoyed to see the tulips I planted last fall start to show themselves last week.
Crocus are always the first to bloom.
The hyacinths are my favorite, I love how their sweet scent fill the whole yard.
Have you seen any spring flowers yet?
A few exciting things happened this month..
We got a new shed! We weren’t really planning on buying one anytime soon, but they had a display model for sale at lowes, twice as big as the one we were looking at and already built for about the same price, we couldn’t pass it up!
We built a privacy fence between our yard and the neighbors, which I am very excited about. I don’t like people being able to see me when I’m outside in the yard..
The bulbs I planted last fall have been blooming, this was one of my favorites.
I couldn’t help myself from trying the Starbucks birthday cake frappucino.
I have been on a mission to make better tasting coffee and bought a french press. I can definitely taste the difference and am obsessed with it already. My next step is the start buying whole beans and grind them myself!
We took a trip to Clemson South Carolina for an organ concert.. I’ll be doing a photo an hour post on it soon!
Annnd I added two new members to my camera family!
March was definitely a better month than January and February! Spring has officially started and flowers have been popping up all around. I have been loving the longer days and warmer weather.
I can’t wait to see what exciting things April brings (Lets hops it brings a new job!). I am looking forward to spending lots of time outside and putting all my cameras to use!
I am a little behind on posting my March recap post, because I have had a very busy week. The beginning of the week I had to study for a test and write a paper, then I had to go on my first ever business trip to the CDC in Atlanta! At first I dreaded going because I was going to have to spend a night away from home. So to keep myself busy I had planned on working on my blog all evening and scheduling a whole bunch of posts. However my coworkers and I ended up staying out late at an oyster bar and I actually had fun! So, I didn’t get to work on all my blog posts, but that’s okay!
I didn’t take a lot of pictures this month because my camera is messed up. :'( I hit the lens walking in the door and now it’s giving me an error. I can only use it on manual mode and only in very bright light. I need to send it in to Nikon to see if they can fix it, but I’ve been putting it off.
Anyway, here are some highlights of the month!
We visited Pittsburgh….
…To see the Frank Lloyd Wright house, Falling water!
I got some neat souvenirs
And started a new obsession!
Cloud missed me so much she sat on my head.
And me and my mom found some bamboo to make garden trellises out of!
March ended up being a lot colder than I expected. We got a pretty big ice storm and I think it also snowed again. So I didn’t get to do as many outdoor activities as I had hoped, but it was still a pretty good month. April should be even better, I’ve never wanted hot weather so badly before!
